I was flying from Vegas into San Jose tonight and watched the moon as the plane was at its highest altitude. As we descended I watched the moon become more and more orange the closer we got to the ground. Ever wonder how this happens? Me too. As I watched I noticed the smog in the atmosphere as we descended and suspected all the particles in the air refracted light thereby changing the color of the moon by the time the it reached our eyes on the ground .
